Client’s suffering with side effects and psychological stress from a traumatic event may benefit from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Problems that EMDR can treat include panic attacks, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), addiction, sexual and/or physical abuse, personality disorders and complicated grief. Memories can have a profound impact on who we are today, and unfortunately, not all of these memories are positive. Those that have a negative impact can be unveiled with the therapist and addressed with this new and innovative therapy that has proven to be effective. Once the event is identified with our qualified EMDR therapist, the symptoms that may include anger, anxiety, nightmares and irritability, are addressed in the treatment plan. The treatment plan will specify the individual’s conditions to be targeted with EMDR. EMDR is used to eliminate the client’s reliving of the traumatic event and addresses the triggers and replaces the said traumatic memories with healthy thoughts and understandings leading to positive behaviors.
